Luiz Gustavo to Real Madrid?
Spanish club Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Brazilian midfielder Luiz Gustavo to replace World Cup star Sami Khedira, who looks all set on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu.
The German international refused to sign a contract extension, with his current deal in Spain expiring next summer. The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Chelsea keen on roping him in. According to reports in Spanish daily El Confidencial, Carlo Ancelotti was hoping to persuade Khedira to stay in Madrid, but as his exit seems inevitable, the Italian manager has now turned his attention to bring in Gustavo from Wolfsburg to strengthen his midfield. The 27-year-old joined the Wolves from Bayern Munich in 2013 on a five-year deal, and has a hefty release clause of €33 million, which has already put the player off Manchester United’s radar this summer.
