Arsenal to make bid for Winston Reid?

Reports this morning indicate that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is to make an official bid for West Ham United defender Winston Reid. The New Zealand international centre back will be out of contract in the summer.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Reid for several months but eyefootball understands that an official approach has only just been made yesterday. The talented centre back joined the Hammers in 2010 and has gone on to play over 100 games for the Premier League side.

The Gunners have a poor defensive record this season as defensive pairing Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker have failed to reproduce the form of 2013-2014. 

Arsene Wenger has made the signing of a centre back and a defensive midfielder this month a top priority and has also been linked with a move for French defender Loic Perrin.
