Before the tournament started the big names expected to light up the tournament were the likes of Ronaldo, Griezmann, Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Bale.

Gareth Bale aside the rest have so far struggled to produce under the pressure of being the superstar for their countries. Gareth Bale has been superb for Wales, a real talisman. He seems to have an incredible mentality for being the star man for his country, normally the same can be said about Ronaldo however he has had a frustrating time so far, plenty of time to improve providing they beat Hungary in a few days time. Griezmann and Pogba have shown their ability in flashes. Andres Iniesta has probably put in the performance of the tournament so far against Turkey.

So far however its been the lesser known players that have been the real stars of the tournament.

Laurent Koscielny has been a rock for France in an defence that has looked a little bit dodgy at times especially from set pieces.

Kyle Walker has been brilliant in England's opening two games especially against Wales bombing up and down the right flank. Maybe him being rested against Slovakia contributed to England's abilty to break them down although Nathaniel Clyne did play well without offering the same threat going forward.

Ivan Perisic for Croatia has been great so far too, he scored a great goal against the Czech Republic and always looks dangerous. Croatia it must be said have been impressive so far bar the collapse against the Czechs in the last few minutes. Modric and Rakitic have been different class in midfield and Dario Srna playing after the death of his father showed real courage and passion and is a proper captain for Croatia.
