Dortmund closing in on Schürrle
Borussia Dortmund are set to seal the €30 million capture of André Schürrle from VfL Wolfsburg, according to reports in Germany.
Kicker is reporting that Dortmund will soon wrap up the signing of former Chelsea winger Schürrle, and will then turn their attention to bringing Mario Götze back from Bayern Munich.
After an impressive season which saw them finish runners up to Bayern with 78 points -- a tally which would've made them champions in all but four seasons in Bundelsiga history -- the Yellow and Blacks have lost some key players.
Mats Hummels departed for rivals Bayern, Ilkay Gundogan joined Manchester City, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan forced through a move to Manchester United.
Dortmund have set about rebuilding their squad with some talented young additions such as Ousmane Dembélé, Emre Mor and Raphael Guerrero.
But BVB are also keen to add some experienced attacking players, and Schürrle is their primary target.
The 25-year-old winger was selected in Joachim Lowe's Germany squad for the recent UEFA European Championship in France, so any move for the player was always likely to be put on the back burner until after the tournament.
But now, as Dortmund gear up to travel to China for a preseason tour, they have upped their efforts to sign Schürrle, and a deal could soon be completed.
Next up, apparently, will be a move to bring Mario Götze back to Signal Iduna Park.
