Chelsea to make move for Nikola Maksimovic

Chelsea have tabled an initial offer for 6 foot 4 centre back Nikola Maksimovic, who currently plays for Serie A side Torino. The 24-year-old has been at the Italian side for over three years and is ready for a new challenge.

The Blues are surprise candidates for the signing of a player dubbed "the new Nemanja Vidic" and are ready to pay up to 12 million euros to secure a deal.

Maksimovic has over 10 caps for his home country of Serbia and has also been monitored by Premier League teams Arsenal and Everton, but it is Chelsea who are in pole position to secure a deal before the end of the summer transfer window.
