Tottenham target Eliaquim Mangala

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a potential deal to sign defender Eliaquim Mangala from Manchester City this summer. The France international is not in the plans of new boss Pep Guardiola.

Mangala, 25, joined the Citizens from Porto in 2014, and has since struggled to maintain a regular role in the first-team.

According to ESPN, Spurs are preparing a bid for the player after he was the green light to leave the Etihad this month.

Pep Guardiola has preferred Aleksandar Kolarov and John Stones as his ideal centre-back pairing, and this leaves Mangala as a potential fifth-choice with Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany (still injured) ahead of him in the pecking order.

Meanwhile, the arrival of new central defender at White Hart Lane is likely to see the departure of Kevin Wimmer ahead of next week's transfer deadline.
