Valencia striker Paco Alcácer is on the verge of completing a €35 million move to FC Barcelona, after completing medical with the Spanish champions earlier today, according to reports.

Spanish sports daily newspaper AS is reporting that 22-year-old Spanish international striker Paco Alcácer has completed a medical with FC Barcelona today, ahead of a move from Valencia that will set the Blaugrana back about €35 million.

Barça have been in the hunt for a striker to deputize for the front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Neymar all summer, with several high profile names being connected with moves to the Camp Nou.

Among the player who were rumoured to be targets for Barcelona were Kevin Gameiro – who has since joined Atlético Madrid – Luciano Vietto, Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa and German international poacher Mario Gomez.

But it now seems that Alcácer is the man Barça have settled upon as the man to provide depth and competition for places in the attacking position.

Alcácer scored 15 goals in 40 appearances for an underperforming Valencia side last season, and netted 14 goals in each of the previous two campaigns.

The Torren born striker has also demonstrated his pedigree at international level, scoring six goals from 13 appearances for La Roja.

Alcá1cer will become Barça’s sixth summer signing following the captures of Samuel Umtiti, Denis Suárez, André Gomes, Lucas Digne and Jasper Cillenssen.
