Barcelona have finally landed their 'fourth forward'

FC Barcelona have completed the signing of Spanish international striker Paco Alcácer from Valencia, in a deal worth €30 million with a potential additional €2 million in conditional add-ons.

Alcácer, who turns 23 today, has been capped 13 times for Spain with six international goals to his name. He will move to the Camp Nou to be the club's primary back up to star Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez.

Barcelona had been on the hunt for a new striker all summer, with various media outlets linking them to a host of wide ranging forwards. Kevin Gameiro, Luciano Vietto, Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa and Mario Gomez were all connected with a move to the champions of Spain, but all have since found new clubs this summer.

Alcácer has been at Valencia for over a decade, and has scored 30 La Liga goals in 90 appearances since making his debut for Los Che in 2011.

The former Getafe loanee is a central striker with superb finishing skills as well as the ability to effectively hold up the ball and bring other players into play. His addition will offer Barça an alternative to the established front three of Suárez, Lionel Messi and Neymar.

The deal to bring Alcácer to the Camp Nou has also seen Munir El Haddadi move in the opposite direction on a season long loan.

Alcácer has become Barcelona’s sixth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Samuel Umtiti, Denis Suárez, André Gomes, Jasper Cillessen and Lucas Digne.
