Chelsea sign Marcos Alonso
Chelsea sign Marcos Alonso
Chelsea have landed the services of Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso for a reported fee of £23m. The Spaniard is likely to play back-up to Cesar Azpilicueta for the left-back role.
The 25-year-old previously had spells with Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland in the English Premier League.
He becomes the club's fourth signing of the transfer window following the likes of N'Golo Kante , Michy Batshuayi, and Eduardo to Stamford Bridge.
Alonso came onto the Blues radar earlier this summer after an out-of-favour Baba Rahman was loaned out to Schalke 04 for the ongoing campaign.
Manager Antonio Conte is well known to keep an eye on the Italian league, and Alonso is believed to be one that impressed him the most.
Alonso, who is mainly a left-back by trade, does have the potential to fill in at holding midfield when required.
Chelsea are also close to announcing the arrival of David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain for a second stint.
