Fabregas on AC Milan radar

AC Milan will step up their efforts to sign Cesc Fabregas when the transfer window reopens in January. The midfielder is not in the plans of Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Fabregas, 29, was the subject of an approach from the Rossoneri over the summer, but he declined their advances in the hope of fighting for his place at Stamford Bridge.

Gazzetta dello Sport says the Rossoneri will return for the midfielder in the New Year with the Chinese consortium, which recently took over the Italian club, ready to spend big on fresh recruits.

The Spain international was a key player for the Blues when they lifted the Premier League crown in 2015. However, his form has since deteriorated, and he was one of them responsible for the club's poor display during the previous campaign.

With Conte being appointed as the new boss this summer, Fabregas has found himself behind the likes of Nemanja Matic, N'Golo Kante and Oscar in the pecking order due to the lack of robustness to his gameplay.

Fabregas has appeared in nearly 100 games for Chelsea since his switch from Barcelona in 2014. He was recently left out of the Spain squad as a result of his reduced playing time.
