Sunderland sign Boavista goalkeeper Mika
Sunderland have landed the services of Boavista goalkeeper Mika for an undisclosed fee. FIFA gave permission for the transfer to go through after technical difficulties resulted a delay in paperwork on deadline day.
The 25-year-old, who has previously in the ranks of Benfica, has inked a two-year deal with the Black Cats.
David Moyes' side had stepped up their efforts to sign the player before last week's transfer deadline, but a delay in filling the necessary documents meant that they had to appeal to FIFA to get through the agreement.
Mika is expected to start for the Black Cats when they host Everton on Monday with Vito Mannone out for the long-term with an elbow injury whilst Jordan Pickford is recovering from a minor niggle.
The shot-stopper has previously featured for Portugal at the Under-21 level.
