Arsenal Legend: Brendan Rodgers the man to replace Arsene
Arsenal hero Ray Parlour believes that Brendan Rodgers will be in contention to replace Arsene Wenger at the helm next season.
Wenger, 67, has shown no signs of extending his contract, and signs are this will be his final year with the north London club.
While speaking to The Sun, the former Invincible admitted that Wenger's future is hanging in the balance following the Gunner's failure to compete for the Premier League title.
"There's a lot of uncertainty at Arsenal right now so anything could happen," he told the source.
"They need to sort out the contract situations regarding the likes of Sanchez, Ozil and Jack Wilshere but of course there's Arsene's situation as well.
"I honestly don't know what will happen with him, it's 50-50 right now."
He added that Rodgers, currently at Celtic, could emerge as a potential candidate to succeed Wenger for the 2017/18 campaign and beyond.
"I'm sure if Arsene was to go then Brendan Rodgers would be one of the names mentioned as a possible replacement."
The Gunners are currently out of the reckoning for both the Premier League and Champions League, and it is understood that their FA Cup run could have the bearing on Wenger's position at the club.
