Bale Apologises For Sending Off

Bale saw his first red since 2008 last night

Real Madrid's Gareth Bale has apologised for his lack of discipline that saw him receive his first red card since joining the club last night, and almost contributed to another shock defeat for his team.

Los Blancos needed two late goals from Cristiano Ronaldo to salvage a 3-3 draw with Las Palmas at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night, leaving them second in the league, but with a game in hand.

The game was level at half time, but two quick fire Las Palmas goals gave the visitors a shock 3-1 lead. Those two goals came however after Gareth Bale picked up two yellow cards in quick succession, just moments after the restart. The first came when Bale kicked out at Jonathan Viera, before pushing him to the ground, which resulted in the second. It is the first time that the Welshman has been sent off since 2008.

A late penalty and an even later equaliser from Ronaldo saw Madrid take something from the game, although they will have been hoping for much more from the fixture.

Not known for having poor discipline, Bale was disappointed with his actions and apologised for what he had done after the game, according to Real manager Zinedine Zidane
