West Brom monitor Ben Gibson
West Brom monitor Ben Gibson
West Bromwich Albion Tony Pulis could move in for the services of Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson after having watched him in action during Boro's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea.
The Riverside outfit will be plying their trade in the Championship next season following a dismal record in the second half of the season which confined them to relegation.
A report from The Mirror suggests that the Baggies could propose a summer deal for the 24-year-old with Pulis having monitored his performance.
Gibson has attracted interest from a line of top English clubs during the ongoing campaign, but Pulis will nevertheless be hopeful of luring the defender to the Hawthorns this summer.
Veteran defender Gareth McAuley inked a one-year extension earlier in the season, and this might be his last in the English top flight as the Baggies look to a younger bunch of players.
Jonny Evans has also been a consistent member at the heart of the Baggies defence but his future could be uncertain beyond the summer with former admirers Arsenal mulling over a fresh approach.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough are likely to listen to offers for their standing captain this summer following a top season which has earned him an England call-up.
