Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly eyeing a reunion with Middlesbrough goalkeeper Victor Valdes when the transfer window reopens in July.

The Catalan tactician worked alongside Valdes at former club Barcelona where they spent four years together before the former left for a fresh challenge with Bayern Munich.

According to ESPN, Guardiola has set his sights on signing his former stopper with both Wilfredo Caballero and Claudio Bravo failing to impress during the campaign.

England international Joe Hart is also due to return from his loan stint at Torino, but his future remains bleak with Pep in favour of a more mobile goalkeeper.

Valdes has recently been relegated with Boro after a dismal second half to the season, and this could provide a boost to City, should they move in for his services in the summer.

The 35-year-old, who previously spent time at cross-city rivals Manchester United, has a year left on his existing deal at the Riverside Stadium.
