Barca boss eyeing Di Maria signing

Paris Saint-Germain ace Angel di Maria has emerged as the top transfer target for Barcelona ahead of this summer's transfer window.

Ernesto Valverde took over the reigns from Luis Enrique at the end of last season, and he is now planning to oversee a rebuild of his squad for the new season.

According to Le Parisien, the Catalan giants will open up negotiations with the Ligue 1 club with Valverde keen on recruiting Di Maria as his marquee signing for the summer.

Di Maria, who spent four years at Real Madrid, 2010 and 2014, joined Les Parisiens in the summer of 2015 following an unsuccessful spell with Premier League club Manchester United.

The Argentine had remained a regular for the French outfit in recent seasons, but he is not entirely happy after the club looked to sell him off to a Chinese Super League club last winter.

With Arda Turan likely to leave Camp Nou, Barcelona are in need of an additional recruit upfront, but it is yet to be seen whether Di Maria would prefer a backup role to Lionel Messi and Neymar.
