Chelsea demanding £10 million from Liverpool for England hero Dominic Solanke

Solanke chose to join Liverpool from Chelsea earlier this month but will have to wait to make the move official after both clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee.

Dominic Solanke burst onto the football scene as he guided the u-20 England team to World Cup glory. The 19-year-old not only scored four goals to finish as the tournament's second-highest scorer, but he also won the coveted Golden Ball award as the competition's best player.

The u-20 World Cup Golden Ball award has been won by some magnificent players down the years, including Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba and Javier Saviola. Solanke has now put himself in that esteemed bracket.

The forward agreed to join Liverpool upon the expiration of his contract with Chelsea on July 1. Liverpool bid £3 million as part of a rule by the England FA that requires a transfer fee for any home-grown player under the age of 24, even if the player leaves after his contract is up. 

However, Chelsea rejected that bid and are now demanding £10 million. If Liverpool fail to come to an agreement with the London side, the transfer fee will be decided by a tribunal next month, according to The Evening Standard. 

Chelsea have a strong case as they have been training Solanke from the u-8 levels. He has also achieved more than many at youth levels for both club and country, with the recent World Cup victory surely being tied in as well.
