Arsenal to use Giroud in Mbappe bid

Olivier Giroud has been unable to become Arsene Wenger's first choice striker

Arsenal are preparing to offer Olivier Giroud and cash of over £100 million to Monaco in an attempt to persuade them to allow teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe to leave the club.

Arsenal have previously had an £87 million bid rejected and L'Equipe reported that Real Madrid have had a staggering £118 million bid turned down since then.

Whilst Real Madrid are being tipped as the favourites to complete the signing of the French youngster, Arsene Wenger is hoping that the addition of Giroud to the offer will make Monaco seriously consider their bid.

Every major club in Europe seems to be competing for the signature of Mbappe, with whoever wins the race set to smash the previous transfer record by a considerable amount.

One issue for Arsenal is that Kylian Mbappe is very keen to be playing in the Champions League, something that The Gunners cannot offer after finishing fifth last season.

Olivier Giroud has been heavily linked with an exit from Arsenal this summer, with a number of clubs said to be interested in his services.

Marseille and Lyon are both said to be interested in the French striker along with Premier League club West Ham United.

The fact that Wenger is willing to offer Giroud as part of this bid suggests that even if the Mbappe offer is unsuccessful, the striker, who is mainly used as a substitute, will be on his way out of The Emirates this summer.
