Southampton keen on Spurs defender
Tottenham Hotspur outcast Kevin Wimmer could reportedly make his way to Southampton this summer, provided Spurs are willing to substantially lower their asking price.
The Austria international has been left frustrated at the North London club after having made just 13 top-flight starts since joining from Cologne in 2015.
According to The Mirror, the Saints have earmarked the 24-year-old as the ideal candidate to replace Jose Fonte, who made a surprise move to West Ham United back in January.
The main stumbling block in the deal, however, remains the valuation with Spurs placing a £20m price tag on the central defender - four times the fee paid to Cologne.
It is added that Wimmer is also keen on pushing through the move despite signing a new five-year deal with Spurs earlier last summer.
Wimmer finds himself under real competition at Tottenham Hotspur with Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier preferred to take up the central defensive duties under Mauricio Pochettino.
