Mourinho wants Marouane Fellaini extension

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is eager to offer a fresh contract to Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini. The 29-year-old is currently contracted at Old Trafford until the end of the season.

Fellaini has looked impressive coming off the substitutes' bench this term, and he recently earned his maiden league start following a hamstring injury to Paul Pogba.

According to ESPN, the self-proclaimed Special One is keen on committing Fellaini to a new long-term deal before the end of the year. Fellaini had attracted interest from both China and Turkey in the transfer window just part, and he will be free to speak to clubs overseas over a pre-contract in January.

Pogba is likely to be sidelined for six to 12 weeks with a serious hamstring problem sustained in the Champions League triumph over Basel, and this could allow Fellaini cement a regular spot in the coming months. The former Evertonian has notched 17 goals in 139 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions.
