Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho may reportedly give the green light to pursue a deal for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney during the summer.

The Scotland international has been on the Red Devils radar for the past 18 months, and he appears to have finally convinced the United scouts after impressing in the Champions League and the international stage.

According to The Record, Mourinho is keen to pursue a deal for the 20-year-old owing to the versatility in his gameplay. Aside from being a left-back, the Scot is capable of slotting into the other flank or feature in a three-man backline, and this has caught the eye of the manager.

Tierney is also considered an affordable option when compared to the likes of Danny Rose and Alex Sandro, who are likely to cost at least £50m during the summer transfer window.

The arrival of a new left-sided defender is likely to coincide with the exits of Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind, all of whom have fallen out of favour under Mourinho this term.
