Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is prepared to play Anthony Martial more regularly in the centre-forward role, should the Frenchman remain at the club beyond the summer.

Martial, 22, started his initial United career under Louis van Gaal in the striker's position and he managed to contribute 17 goals over the course of the 2015/16 season.

However, the Frenchman has since been confined to a wider role with Mourinho and this has reduced his threat in front of goal to an extent whilst also reducing his overall gametime.

According to The Mail, Mourinho has the idea of playing Martial in his preferred position upfront next season, if the forward is willing to stay put for next season.

Martial's representatives are said to have already made contact with Juventus regarding a possible summer move while there has also been interest from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Frenchman has managed just four league starts since Alexis Sanchez's arrival at the club and his chances of an exit remain realistic with his current contract due to expire at the end of next season.
