Arsenal look at Napoli defender to shore up the backline
Arsenal are reportedly lining up a summer move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly as they seek to reinforce their backline ahead of the 2018/19 season.
The Senegal international has been one of the most consistent performers in the Serie A in recent years and he has previously attracted interest from arch-rivals Chelsea.
According to The Express, the Gunners are keen to bolster the central defence after witnessing the most number of goals conceded in a single campaign since 1984.
Laurent Koscielny is expected to be sidelined for the long-term with an Achilles problem and the retirement of Per Mertesacker seems to have intensified the club's pursuit further for reinforcements.
Koulibaly is currently said to be valued at £53m but Arsenal are likely to face competition from Chelsea and European giants Barcelona during the summer.
Meanwhile, the north Londoners are also looking into a summer move for Jonny Evans, who is available for a release clause of just £3m following West Bromwich Albion's relegation from the top-flight.
