Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to do business with Manchester United for Toby Alderweireld, provided his transfer valuation is matched.

The Belgium centre-back played second fiddle to the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen and managed just 13 starts in the top-flight last season.

As a result, the 29-year-old is keen on parting ways with the club during the summer transfer window with Manchester United supposedly leading the race for his signature.

An earlier report from M.E.N suggested that United could make a £55m bid in order to tempt Spurs into a sale but according to The Mirror, the Capital outfit are keen to get more out of the defender.

Virgil van Dijk is currently the most-expensive defender in the world after his £75m move to Liverpool in January and Spurs are eager to acquire a similar sum from Alderweireld's potential switch to United.

Alderweireld's current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2019 but he does have a one-year option on his contract which would automatically attach a £22m release clause.
