Manchester United enter race for Sokratis Papastathopoulos
Manchester United are reportedly prepared to rival Arsenal in the pursuit of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The Greece international has already made his mind up to leave BvB this summer and a report from Bild recently suggested that the Gunners have made contact with the club's hierarchy.
However, they are now expected to face competition from Manchester United who have made an enquiry of their own for the experienced centre-back, WAZ claims.
United have been associated with a move for Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld in recent days but Spurs' £75m valuation appears to have put them off from making an offer.
As such, United are now weighing up an approach for Sokratis who is available for a relatively cheap price of £17.5m after having turned down a contract extension.
Regardless of this, Arsenal still have the advantage in the player's pursuit with head of recruitment Sven Mislintat having helped Dortmund sign Sokratis from Werder Bremen five years ago.
