Napoli plan to hijack Juve's move for Darmian

Napoli are reportedly planning a late attempt to pursue the services of Manchester United outcast Matteo Darmian. The Italy international is widely expected to leave Old Trafford in the coming days after falling down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.

Over the weekend, it had been suggested that Darmian was scheduled to undergo a medical with Juventus but it now appears that the Serie A holders could face additional competition from Carlo Ancelotti's side.

According to Calciomercato, the Bianconeri are yet to finalise the transfer fee for Darmian's switch to Turin and this has resulted in late interest from their league rivals.

Nevertheless, the reigning Italian champions remain favourites to sign the versatile full-back, who is said to have already personal terms over his long-term contract with the club.

Darmian's departure from Manchester United may not be seen as much of a loss with Diogo Dalot recently recruited from FC Porto to fill the void behind Antonio Valencia.
