David Ornstein drops fresh update on Arsenal's interest in Torreira
BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein has claimed that Arsenal are yet to secure an agreement to sign midfielder Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria this summer.
The Uruguay international has been heavily tipped for a Gunners move this month but so far, talks appear at a preliminary stage with a deal yet to be sorted out.
Writing on his official Twitter account, Ornstein revealed that the Gunners are hopeful of finalising a move for the former Pescara man but even then, personal terms would only be discussed following the World Cup.
However, should the deal fall through, the north London giants are expected to look elsewhere but Ever Banega is not said to be among the targets for Unai Emery's side.
Torreira started for Uruguay during their 3-0 thumping of Russia in the final group stage of the World Cup but he is likely to return to the bench for the round of 16 clash with Portugal on Saturday night.
