Manchester United in 'advanced talks' to sign Real Madrid star
Manchester United are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid over a deal for Welsh midfielder Gareth Bale. The 28-year-old was in-and-out of the starting lineup during the course of the previous campaign and his future remains uncertain despite the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to The Manchester Evening News, United chief executive Ed Woodward is still keen on pursuing a marquee signing for the transfer window and the club are said to have begun discussions with Los Blancos regarding a potential move for Bale.
Bale's representative has recently confirmed that his client is likely to discuss his future with new boss Julen Lopetegui and the club's desire to pursue a replacement for Ronaldo may witness him head through the exit door.
The Welshman has yearned to start on the left side of the attack where Ronaldo has featured over the years but his ambition could be cut short, should one of Neymar or Eden Hazard arrive at the Bernabeu this summer.
