Petr Cech reacts to Arsenal exit speculation
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has stressed that he is prepared to fight for the number one role next season despite the summer arrival of Bernd Leno.
The 36-year-old has been recently linked with a possible exit from the Emirates Stadium with reports suggesting that the Gunners are lining up a move for Yann Sommer from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Despite this, Cech has clarified that he has a year left on his existing deal and he is willing to fight for his position so long as he remains with the north London club.
"I have one more year of contract and the club is counting with me, so far. My position is the same, I'm here, I'm concentrating on my job and I try to keep the number one jersey in the starting lineup. This is my task and what comes, comes," he is quoted as saying by The Mail.
Over the past few days, Cech has been linked with a possible return to Chelsea with reports emerging that they could part ways with Thibaut Courtois this summer.
On the other hand, Roma are also deemed to hold an interest in the veteran shot-stopper as they seek to find a suitable replacement for Alisson Becker, who was recently sold off to Liverpool.
