Chelsea to make shock swoop for Arsenal midfielder?

Chelsea are reportedly planning a shock attempt to sign midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal amid his reluctance to extend his contract.

The Wales international has spent the past 10 seasons with the Gunners where he has become their leading scorer from midfield with nearly 60 goals.

Despite this, his long-term future with the north Londoners remains in doubt as he has yet to commit to a fresh deal beyond the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

According to The Mail, the Blues are now said to be closely monitoring the player's proceedings and they could make a late raid for his signature before the transfer deadline.

Chelsea most-recently acquired the services of Olivier Giroud from Arsenal in January and they could now reunite him with Ramsey whom the Gunners are said to value at £30m.

Ramsey has often divided opinion among the club's supporters but manager Unai Emery has recently talked up the importance of the Welshman ahead of the new Premier League season.
