Lopetegui confirms Bale's situation at Real Madrid
Lopetegui confirms Bale's situation at Real Madrid
Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui has said that winger Gareth Bale is very happy at the Bernabeu ahead of the new La Liga season.
Bale's future had been uncertain after their UEFA Champions League final win over Liverpool in May, but recent reports indicate that he will be staying at Madrid.
"He's very happy to play at Real Madrid. He's happy to be here, this is a fantastic opportunity for him to show his talent," Lopetegui said, Mirror Football reports.
The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus and the resignation of Zinedine Zidane has made the former Tottenham player's future at the La Liga side look brighter.
With Real reportedly abandoning their chase for Chelsea's Eden Hazard, it is looking more likely that the Welshman will have a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.
Manchester United have been linked with Bale, but with Lopetegui's comments, it is highly unlikely that a move will happen.
Real Madrid are currently in the US preparing for the new season and will face Jose Mourinho's United in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday morning.
