Bruce Grobbelaar: Goalkeepers should be worth as much as strikers
Bruce Grobbelaar believes that goalkeepers should be worth as much as strikers.
The former Liverpool goalkeeper is speaking ahead of his former side's clash with Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend.
Liverpool and Chelsea boast of two of the most expensive goalkeepers in the world in Alisson Becker and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
"It's about time. It's nice to see that they are valued for what they're worth and they should be worth exactly the same as a striker," he said, Sky Sports reports.
Liverpool signed Becker for £67m from AS Roma in the last transfer window, while Chelsea signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao for £71.6m, a record fee for a goalkeeper.
Jurgen Klopp and Maurizio Sarri's men are on the back of their League Cup clash where the Blues ran out 2-1 winners at Anfield.
The Carabao Cup win will give Chelsea the confidence to end Liverpool's 100 percent record in the Premier League when they kick off in the late Saturday game at Stamford Bridge.
A win for Chelsea on Saturday will take the Blues above Jurgen Klopp's men on the table, but that may not put them at the top, depending on the result between Manchester City and Brighton.
