Steve Bruce fired by Aston Villa
Steve Bruce has been removed from his role as Aston Villa manager after a disappointing start to the season in the Championship. Despite Bruce's best efforts to cling on to his role, Bruce had been axed from Villa after fans expressed continued disappointment with the progress of the club so far this season.
Steve Bruce was subjected to vile abuse during Villa's most recent game, with one fan even throwing a cabbage at the manager while he stood on the touchline.
With Bruce now, Arsenal club legend Thierry Henry has been linked with the vacant Aston Villa role. The former France international had been linked with the same job just back in June, but the club then decided to stay with Steve Bruce as their coach.
It is understood that Henry is keen to get into coaching, having quit his role as a Sky Sports presenter in July. Thierry is currently the assistant manager of Belgium, after a third place showing during the summer's World Cup in Russia.
Villa's board are hopeful a replacement for Bruce will be announced within 7 days.
