Attacking Players Liverpool could sign in January
In a recent interview, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher suggested that Liverpool might need to go into the transfer market in January to sign an attacking midfielder to help ease the burden on the club’s front three.
Whilst the Reds haven’t always been keen to do business in January, last year they broke the club record transfer fee to sign Virgil Van Dijk, so they’ve proven that they are willing to splash the cash for a player if they think he’s needed.
With that all in mind, we’ve looked at some of the attacking midfielders who we think the Reds could take a look at:
AARON RAMSEY:
Aaron Ramsey will leave Arsenal in the summer, if not earlier, after the club decided not to renew his contract. He’s been linked with a move to Liverpool, but he has publically said that he intends to finish the season at the Gunners. However, things can change quickly in football and Arsenal could look to cash in when the January window opens.
PIOTR ZIELINSKI:
Before Piotr Zielinski moved to Napoli, it looked certain that he’d be joining Liverpool. A move to Anfield didn’t materialise then, but it could in January, especially as we know that Jurgen Klopp is very picky when it comes to the players he likes.
NABIL FEKIR:
Speaking of players who looked certain to be joining Liverpool! Nabil Fekir’s move to the Reds collapsed at the last minute for reasons that have been speculated on but never totally proven. If there is some way to get a deal done, Liverpool would surely consider it.
ROBERTO PEREYRA:
A slightly left-field shout but Roberto Pereyra has done well this year at Watford and Klopp has shown a willingness to sign players from ‘lesser’ English clubs and give them a chance to succeed.
SERGEJ MILINKOVIC-SAVIC:
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is one of Europe’s most sought-after players. He’d be an amazing signing but he would cost A LOT of money.
JULIAN DRAXLER:
Julian Draxler could leave PSG in the summer to look for regular game time. He was reportedly a target for the Reds before he moved to Paris.
