Cesc Fabregas could take pay cut in new contract
Spain international Cesc Fabregas will reportedly have to take a massive cut on his current wages, if he is to extend his contract with Chelsea.
The midfielder's current deal expires at the end of the season and talks have seemingly stalled over a probable extension beyond that period.
According to Evening Standard, Fabregas remains keen on prolonging his stay with the west London giants but for that to happen, he may have to take a significant pay cut on his current £160,000-a-week salary.
Fabregas has struggled to secure a regular role under the guidance of manager Maurizio Sarri this campaign and his playing time has largely been restricted to the Cup and European competitions.
The Spaniard most recently featured for the Blues during their League Cup fourth round tie against Derby County where he bagged the winner in a 3-2 triumph.
He is currently behind the likes of N'Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley in the pecking order for the midfield duties in the Premier League.
