Olivier Giroud updates on his Chelsea future
Olivier Giroud has revealed his ambition to stay put with Chelsea despite the reduced gametime since the start of the ongoing campaign.
The France international joined the Blues from Arsenal during the backend of the previous season and contributed five goals across all competitions.
However, he has struggled for form this term with just one goal for the Blues and there have already been suggestions that he could pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Amidst this, the Frenchman has now clarified that he is prepared to fight for his Blues future and may not seek an exit from the west London side in the New Year.
"Of course, I am a competitor and I would like more playing time. But I am in a very big club, with very big players," he is quoted as saying by Telefoot.
"I am going to fight and for the moment, it is not a question about seeking a departure. I am going to stick in there and do not count on me to give up."
Giroud has managed to start just four of his nine Premier League appearances this season but he has been disappointing with no goals in any of those.
Still, he has impressed with his distribution with four top-flight assists and this has been an attribute which has impressed manager Maurizio Sarri this term.
He currently has just eight months remaining on his existing deal with the Blues but the club have the option of a one-year extension clause which they could trigger at the turn of the year.
