Chelsea confirm contract agreement with French marksman

Giroud signs new Chelsea deal

Chelsea have confirmed that Olivier Giroud has committed his future to the club by penning a fresh one-year contract.

The Frenchman's previous deal was due to expire at the end of next month and there were doubts whether he would pen an extension thereafter, given his limited gametime.

However, the Blues have managed to convince him into the extension and the Frenchman has now revealed his pleasure over the same, he told the club's official website: "I am very happy to sign a new contract.

"I really wanted to stay at least one more year – I have felt a part of the team, the family, since the beginning and hopefully there will be more trophies to come."

Giroud has largely featured in the Europa League games over the course of the season with the likes of Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain featuring in the Premier League.

With the Blues under a two-window transfer ban, they are likely on his services, considering they are doubts whether Morata, Michy Batshuayi will be valued under Maurizio Sarri following their loan spells.
