Arsenal manager Unai Emery has hinted that Laurent Koscielny could head through the exit door while speaking in a press conference in the United States.

The Frenchman recently declined to link up with his teammates for the pre-season tour and reports have since emerged that he would prepare to part ways with the club.

Amidst this, Emery has now acknowledged that Koscielny could leave when he was asked about the captaincy situation, he said: "I want one English player in these five captains.

"Last year (Granit) Xhaka, Mesut (Ozil) and Nacho (Monreal) were working as captains. But after Aaron Ramsey and Petr Cech left - and possibly Laurent Koscielny - I will want more."

Koscielny has requested the board to release him on a free transfer this summer but they seem reluctant to do so as they regard him as an important first-team player for next season.

As such, there has been speculation that the Frenchman could buy out the final year of his contract with the club but they are complications regarding the same, given the club have a 12-month extension clause available.
