Adam Webster yesterday completed a transfer move from Bristol City to Brighton and Hove Albion in a deal worth £20 million. The 24-year-old defender arrives at the club on a four-year deal and is expected to play an important part of Brighton's squad for the upcoming Premier League season.

Webster arrived at Bristol City from Ipswich Town for a fee of £3.5 million just last summer and has proved himself as a powerful and versatile defender ready to make the step up to England's top flight.

There had been rumours that the arrival of Adam Webster would signal the end of Lewis Dunk at Brighton, however there are new assurances that Dunk will be staying put at the club. Harry Maguire's move to Man Utd from Leicester City had made Dunk the primary favourite to be signed by the Foxes as a replacement.

"He is a quality defender, comfortable on the ball and fits the profile of the player we want to bring to the club," said Brighton boss Graham Potter. "He was very keen to join us.

"Predominately a centre-half, he can also play at right-back, and he will bring additional competition alongside our existing defensive options.”
