Philippe Coutinho rejected deadline-day move to Premier League side
Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho is understood to have rejected the opportunity to join Tottenham Hotspur prior to the Premier League transfer deadline.
The Brazil international was widely fancied to return to the English top-flight before the 5pm deadline on Thursday and he was offered to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
According to AS, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino had sought to lure Coutinho back to England and he made a personal one-on-one phone call to the 27-year-old.
However, the Brazilian decided to snub the advances from his former Espanyol head coach, considering he wanted to remain loyal to Jurgen Klopp's side by not signing with a Premier League rival.
Coutinho has seemingly fallen down the pecking order at the Camp Nou following the big-money purchase of Antoine Griezmann from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
Still, he continues to remain optimistic about his chances of succeeding with the Blaugrana and appears set to fight for his position rather than pursuing a move to another elite European outfit.
