Nicolas Pepe accepts he is low on confidence
Arsenal star Nicolas Pepe has acknowledged that he is low on confidence following the club's 1-1 Premier League draw against Manchester United on the road.
The Ivorian joined the Gunners on a club-record deal from Lille during the summer and much was expected of him after contributing 22 goals and 11 assists for his former side last season.
However, he has largely struggled to make an impact in the final third of the pitch and he has bagged just one goal and an assist for the Gunners with the former resulting from a penalty kick.
Speaking to RAC1 Sport, Pepe admitted that it has been a tough beginning for him in the Premier League and he is prepared to work hard to meet the demands of the club.
"It has not been easy, I must tell the truth. My confidence must come back. I am not very worried. People may be worried about my statistics but I am not. It is a new league for me and I must adapt quickly, but it won't take very long," he told.
Pepe struggled to make an impression during the recent league outing at Old Trafford and the threat largely came from young graduate Bukayo Saka, who came close to scoring on two occasions.
Arsenal's stalemate against United has propelled them to the fourth position in the standings. They are scheduled to face Standard Liege and Bournemouth at home in their next two games before the international break.
