Gary Neville rates Liverpool's title prospects
Manchester United legend-turned-pundit Gary Neville believes Liverpool are genuine favourites to secure their maiden Premier League title following Manchester City's average beginning to the season.
The Reds have accumulated the perfect tally of points after the opening eight games of the campaign and this sees them with an eight-point advantage over the Citizens, who have already suffered a couple of shock defeats.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said that the Reds can't lose the title from the current situation but things could change, should one of Virgil van Dijk or Mohamed Salah suffer a serious injury setback.
"I don't think they can lose it from here. Liverpool are definitely big favourites, but if Van Dijk gets injured, or Salah gets injured it can change. There's thirty games to go," he told.
The Reds had a seven-point advantage over the Citizens at one point last season but they still failed to secure the title with their cross-town rivals edging them over the line by one point.
Liverpool are scheduled to face Manchester United on the road after the international break and they should be fancied to secure a victory on the basis of the Red Devils' displays this term.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been dreadful with their showing during the opening phase of the campaign and they are presently 15 points off the top of the standings.
