Jermaine Jenas slams Manchester United's decision to keep Anthony Martial
Former Premier League star Jermaine Jenas has said that Manchester United should have sold Anthony Martial during the summer rather than parting ways with Romelu Lukaku.
Martial penned a new long-term deal with the Red Devils at the beginning of the year but he has since struggled to justify the contract with a run of inconsistent performances.
Besides this, the Frenchman has also tended to sustain injuries which have kept him on the sidelines and Jenas feels the Red Devils may have offloaded the wrong player during the summer transfer window.
“Since Martial has been at Manchester United, I would say he has a month and a half, two months a season then he goes absolutely missing," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“You talk injuries but it happens every single season at United. Why get rid of Lukaku when you’ve got someone like Martial who is doing that every week."
Martial has failed to make a single appearance for the Red Devils since the 2-1 Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace in August, where he sustained a thigh injury.
The Frenchman has returned to training ahead of the Liverpool game but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that the forward is unlikely to make the starting XI with the current level of fitness.
