Arsenal manager says summer signing is set to make Premier League debut

Emery hints at Tierney start vs Sheffield

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has said that Kieran Tierney is likely to make his Premier League debut when the Gunners take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Monday night.

The Scotland international returned from his double hernia operation to make a couple of appearances against Nottingham Forest and Standard Liege last month and he registered his first club assist against the latter.

Speaking ahead of the Blades clash, Emery confirmed that Tierney is ready to make his Premier League debut and hinted that he may be preferred ahead of Sead Kolasinac, who has just returned from international duty.

“[Tierney is] ready to play. Now we have two options in that left-back role with Sead Kolasinac and him. It depends how he comes into the first training with us, Sead, after his international matches,” he told via Arsenal.com.

Elsewhere, Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin are the other first-team players, who are awaiting their first league appearance of the season but they may have to stay patient.

David Luiz and Sokratis are set to continue as the central defensive pairing against Sheffield. Calum Chambers, who has already bagged one goal and three assists may continue to stake the claim for the right-back role.
