James Milner hopes to extend his Liverpool stay
Liverpool utility man James Milner is hopeful that a spell of good form this season will help him extend his stay at the club beyond the end of the summer, when his current deal with the club expires. The former Leeds United, Newcastle and Aston Villa veteran has been an important member of Jurgen Klopp's team in recent seasons and it is understood the German manager wants to keep the player at the club.
The 33-year-old thinks that his form merits a new deal and he feels exactly the same as he did six years ago.
'My contract with Liverpool is up at the end of the season but hopefully we'll sort something out,' quipped Milner.
'I want to keep going as long as possible at the highest level. I still feel very good and no different to what I did six years ago.'
Milner has found himself playing in midfield and defence under Klopp and is famous for his goalscoring prowess from the penalty spot for the Anfield club.
