Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has heaped praise on Tammy Abraham following his match-winning impact against Crystal Palace over the weekend.

The England international made a tough start against the Eagles as he struggled to gain possession of the ball but he made amends after the break with a calm and collective finish past goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

Abraham thereafter squandered another chance to find the net but that did not hamper the Blues with Christian Pulisic doubling the advantage in the 79th minute.

Following the game, Lampard revealed that he had offered some advice to Abraham at the interval and he is pleased that the marksman kept on going and found the breakthrough.

"He needed to liven up a bit but if you stick with it then you’ll get your moment and top strikers do. At the moment he’s proved himself to be that this season. The question is can he keep doing it? But what I see from his mentality and desire, I believe he can," he told Sky Sports.

Abraham's strike against Palace meant that he became the second youngest player after Arjen Robben to score 10 league goals for the west London giants.

The Blues graduate has been called up by the Three Lions for the forthcoming internationals against Montenegro and Kosovo, and it remains to be seen whether Abraham is handed with his maiden start.
