Jose Mourinho reacts after taking charge as Tottenham manager
Jose Mourinho has spoken about his excitement after being handed with the managerial role with Tottenham Hotspur shortly after Mauricio Pochettino's dismissal.
Spurs parted ways with Pochettino after six-and-a-half seasons earlier yesterday and they swiftly named Mourinho as the successor on a three-and-a-half year contract.
Speaking to the club's official website, Mourinho was pleased to be handed with a return to Premier League football with Spurs and said that he had been attracted by the calibre of players at the club.
"I am excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters. The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me," he told.
Spurs are currently languishing in the 14th spot on the table and they are presently 11 points adrift of Manchester City, who are occupying the final Champions League position.
They are scheduled to face West Ham United in a London derby on Saturday and the match should be interesting with both teams struggling for wins in the Premier League over the past month.
