Frank Lampard reacts after Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said that his players should have shown more urgency in their gameplay during the 1-0 league defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
The west London side struggled to find the breakthrough against a resilient Cherries outfit and they were eventually made to pay the price with Dan Gosling netting a 84th minute winner which was awarded after a VAR check.
Following the game, Lampard acknowledged that the players were slow in terms of their distribution and admitted that they were not enough chances created through the 90 minutes.
"We need urgency in our play. Getting it through the lines. Don’t play safe, we played too safe. I don’t know about fear, in front of our home fans it’s clear we are not playing well enough. We are creating a lot but giving away silly goals. We didn’t create enough. We didn’t get the fans excited enough," he told.
Chelsea continue to remain in the fourth spot in the Premier League standings but they have plenty to worry about after suffering four defeats from five league matches.
The Blues are presently holding a four-point advantage in the race for the final Champions League spot but that could be reduced to just two points, should Manchester United beat Everton on Sunday.
