Arsenal have reportedly earmarked Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi as a potential midfield addition during the forthcoming transfer window.

The Nigeria international has evolved into a key player under the guidance of manager Brendan Rodgers this term and his performances have earned him plaudits from fans and pundits alike.

According to Leicestershire Live, the Gunners are said to hold a long-term interest in the midfielder and they were keeping a close eye on his progress in Belgium prior to his Foxes move.

The same outlet claims that the north London side are eyeing an ambitious part-exchange deal for the Nigerian and they are prepared to offer £40m plus Granit Xhaka as a makeweight to land his services.

Ndidi has more than four years remaining on his existing deal with the Foxes and they should be in no hurry to sanction his sale, particularly with them vying for a top-four spot for the campaign.

Still, the Foxes have previously been tempted to sell when they have received the right price for any of their players but the Gunners could be forced to wait until the summer to pursue Ndidi.
