Real Madrid keeping tabs on Serie A midfielder

According to Spanish outlet AS, Real Madrid have stepped up their interest in Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz as the Spanish midfielder is yet to renew his contract with the Serie A club.

The 23-year-old is also closely watched by Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.

Ruiz was instrumental behind Napoli finishing second in the Serie A table last season, racking up 5 goals and 3 assists in the process. Furthermore, he won the UEFA U-21 Golden player award for helping the Spanish national team to lift the U-21 title.

It is also reported that the ex-Real Betis man has no desired buy out clause in his contract, which is set to expire in 2023.

Los Blancos have been linked with a string of midfielders, including the likes of Donny Van de Beek, Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen. Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos are spending their loan spells with Real Sociedad and Arsenal respectively.
